Imizamo Yethu

A project created during the Foundry Workshop in Cape Town, July 2016. Imizamo Yethu (Xhosa for "Our Combined Effort") is an informal settlement in Hout Bay, South Africa. I spent a week learning about the residents, hearing their stories, and seeking to understand a history of the place. It was built from multiple camps in the Hout Bay area, some of which burned, others were forcefully re-located.
